Schiff found song where others find formula; conveyed song where others play scales.
Sir András Schiff’s understanding of Bach has all the heart you’d expect of an affair spanning more than 50 years, but as with any great relationship each day brings something new. Now the legendary pianist will offer a rich musical account of this history and its offspring.
Appearing in Australia for the first time in more than two decades, Schiff will perform a program of great beauty and imagination. As always, at the heart of everything is Bach’s ingenuity, musical excellence, deep faith and humanity.
Accented by the music of the famous nineteenth-century composers who followed in Bach’s steps, this program is an illustration of Schiff’s famously impish capacity to surprise and delight by illuminating the connections between seemingly discrete works.
